Contest

We are pleased to announce the results of the competition for the best bachelor’s or master’s thesis on the position of the Visegrad Group countries in the European Union, i.e. devoted to the analysis of the position of all or selected countries of the Visegrad Group in the structures of the European Union, as well as economic, political or social cooperation between these countries.

The winners of the competition are (in alphabetical order):

  • Mariann Lengyel for her MA thesis “The evolution of the Central European identity between 2007 and 2016” defended at the Corvinus University in Budapest. Supervisor: Dr. Istvan Kollai.
  • Jakub Lesiak for his MA thesis “Competitiveness of manufacturing of the Visegrad Group economies in the context of EU climate-energy policy assumptions ”defended at the University Economics in Krakow. Supervisor: Dr. Marta Ulbrych.
  • Jakub Kočenda for his BA thesis “Visegrad Group in the Context of Current Challenges ”defended at the University of Economics in Bratislava. Pomotor: Dr. Tetyana Zubro.
  • Vojtěch Kolář for his BA thesis “Liberalization of passenger rail transport in the Visegrad Four countries ”, defended at the Masaryk University in Brno. Supervisor: prof. Ing. Martin Kvizda, Ph.D.

In total, 22 works from the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary were submitted to the competition. All of them presented a high quality level and were the results of interesting research in various fields of social sciences.

The official presentation of diplomas and a set of gifts will take place on October 14, 2022 during a conference organized by the Mendel University in Brno.

The competition was organized by the University of Economics in Katowice together with partner universities of the project: Mendel University in Brno, University of Economics in Bratislava and the National School of Public Administration in Budapest. The competition was organized under the project “Visegrad Group Cooperation within the EU: Challenging the Rise of Euroscepticism” financed by the International Visegrad Fund.
